The document presents 5 pillars to strengthen the security of our cyberspace: 1) Defend Critical Infrastructure, 2) Disrupt and Dismantle Threat Actors, 3) Shape Market Forces to Drive Security and Resilience, 4) Invest in a Resilient Future, 5) Forge International Partnerships to Pursue Shared Goals. We can expect a significant impact on regulation while the Strategy is being implemented by the different governmental agencies. SENATE COMMITTEE ON ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES EXAMINE CYBERSECURITY VULNERABILITIES TO THE UNITED STATES’ ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE

Members of Congress, the DOE, and Key Stakeholders in the sector demonstrated a mutual concern to secure the nations cybersecurity through frameworks and strengthening the domestic supply chain. Three witnesses gave their testimony. From the government side, Puesh Kumar, Director, Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response Preparedness (CESER), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) discussed the necessity to enhance public-private collaboration to develop new and innovative ways to defend against cyberthreats. From the OT cybersecurity vendor side, Robert Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of Dragos, emphasized the role of the government to enforce cybersecurity requirements, as industrial cyber threat landscape shifts rapidly. From the critical infrastructure side, Stephen Swick, CSO of American Electric Power (AEP), stated that the threat being that the landscape is becoming “increasingly dynamic”.
